Smart∞ 2025 Taiwan Sustainability Summit
The 2025 Taiwan Sustainability Summit opened in Taipei today under the theme “From City 4.0 to City Net Zero.” Distinguished speakers from Taiwan included National Development Council’s Deputy Minister Kao Shien-Quey, Deputy Taoyuan Mayor Su Jun-bin, and Christie Lin, Head of Foxconn Chairman Office Smart City Platform. From Germany, Michael Kretschmer, Minister-President of the Free State of Saxony, delivered a keynote address, joined by Dirk Panter, Saxony’s State Minister for Economic Affairs, Labour, Energy and Climate Action. Decision-makers from both Taiwan and Germany’s public and private sectors emphasized that cities – as the largest contributors to global energy use and CO₂ emissions – must lead the net-zero transition. With Digital Twin and AI, cities can “do more with less” – reducing emissions, enhancing efficiency, and accelerating national progress toward net zero.
