German Pavilion at SEMICON Taiwan 2026 Reaches New Record with 31 Participating Organizations

Taipei, Taiwan –Dresden, the capital of the German state of Saxony, is one of Europe’s leading semiconductor hubs and continues to attract major investments while expanding its advanced manufacturing capacity. Construction of the European Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (ESMC)—a joint venture of TSMC, Bosch, Infineon, and NXP—is progressing in Dresden, with production scheduled to begin by the end of 2027. In July this year, Infineon also officially opened its new Smart Power Fab in Dresden, representing an investment of approximately EUR 5 billion and further strengthening the region’s manufacturing capabilities in power semiconductors and analog/mixed-signal technologies. As Saxony’s semiconductor industry continues to expand, new opportunities are emerging for Taiwanese and German companies to cooperate across manufacturing equipment, smart fab infrastructure and automation, materials, inspection, talent, and professional services.

Against this backdrop, DEinternational Taiwan Ltd., the service unit of the German Trade Office Taipei, once again joins forces with Silicon Saxony e.V., Europe’s largest microelectronics and smart systems cluster, to present the German Pavilion at SEMICON Taiwan 2026, taking place from September 2 to 4 at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center.

This year, the German Pavilion reaches a new record with 31 participating organizations, up from 18 last year—an increase of approximately 72%. The Pavilion brings together semiconductor companies, industry clusters, cities, investment promotion agencies, and professional service providers. Their expertise spans semiconductor manufacturing equipment, smart fab infrastructure and cleanrooms, vacuum and thin-film deposition, sensing and inspection, industrial automation, materials and components, as well as investment, talent, and business establishment services. Together, they highlight the diversity and strength of Germany’s semiconductor ecosystem, from advanced technologies and manufacturing to investment support.

Through this year’s German Pavilion, we look forward to connecting more German and Taiwanese companies, fostering concrete partnerships, and jointly strengthening the resilience and competitiveness of the semiconductor supply chains in Europe and Taiwan.”

Dirk Panter, Saxon State Minister for Economic Affairs, Labour, Energy and Climate Action, once again leads a delegation to Taiwan this year and joins the opening of the German Pavilion, underscoring Saxony’s strong commitment to deepening semiconductor cooperation with Taiwan: “Taiwan is a global leader in the semiconductor and high-tech industry. The Free State of Saxony will position itself there as a high-performing technology and investment hub. In doing so, the Free State is responding to Taiwanese companies’ interest in European locations following the construction of a new chip factory by the Taiwanese semiconductor group TSMC as part of the ESMC joint venture in Dresden, the growing momentum of investment in the semiconductor sector, and, not least, the need to expand resilient supply chains.”

In addition to showcasing the latest technologies and solutions, the German Pavilion features a series of industry presentations throughout the three-day exhibition, focusing on key semiconductor applications including AI-ready smart fabs, high-tech facilities, smart manufacturing, vacuum deposition, cleanroom technologies, sensing, and inspection. Industry and investment organizations from across Germany will also introduce their semiconductor ecosystems, investment environments, and talent resources, providing Taiwanese companies with first-hand insights into opportunities for establishing operations in Germany and expanding into the European market. The German Pavilion will also host several Happy Hour networking events during the exhibition to further promote exchanges and cooperation between the German and Taiwanese semiconductor industries.
