The 9th Taiwan International Machine Tool Show (TMTS 2026), organized by the Taiwan Machine Tool & Accessory Builders’ Association (TMBA), opened today at the Taichung International Convention and Exhibition Center and will run for four days. This year’s exhibition is held under the theme “AI-Powered Sustainable Manufacturing,” building on previous achievements in digital and green transformation while focusing on the integration of artificial intelligence into manufacturing processes and the advancement of sustainable smart manufacturing. The show brings together more than 400 exhibitors across 1,800 booths, highlighting the latest developments in machine tools and smart manufacturing.

The German Trade Office Taipei, together with its service unit DEinternational Taiwan Ltd., has once again organized the German Pavilion, bringing together 18 German companies and brands. The pavilion is the largest national pavilion at this year’s TMTS, demonstrating Germany’s technological strengths in smart manufacturing, automation, and industrial digitalization.

Taichung has long been recognized as the core cluster of Taiwan’s machine tool industry, home to numerous machinery manufacturers and precision machining suppliers that form a highly integrated industrial ecosystem. As demand for smart and high-end manufacturing continues to grow, Taichung’s role in the global machine tool industry is becoming increasingly important, providing a strong foundation for collaboration between international companies and Taiwan’s industrial partners.

Dr. Eva Langerbeck, Chief Representative and Executive Director of the German Trade Office Taipei, commented:

“Germany has long been known for its technological excellence in high-precision machine tools and industrial equipment, while Taiwan offers a highly competitive and comprehensive manufacturing ecosystem. International exhibitions such as TMTS provide valuable opportunities for German companies to deepen engagement with Taiwan’s industrial partners and explore new avenues for cooperation. This year’s German Pavilion not only showcases advanced manufacturing technologies but also highlights emerging applications in semiconductors, aerospace, and data centers. Through cross-industry collaboration, we look forward to further driving innovation in global manufacturing.”

The German Pavilion features a wide range of products and solutions, including metal cutting machine tools, metal forming equipment, machine tool components and accessories, electrical control systems, and smart manufacturing solutions. Exhibits also include industrial robots, 3D printing technologies, and other advanced manufacturing equipment and materials. In addition, Baden-Württemberg International (BW_i) is participating in the German Pavilion at TMTS for the first time. Located in southwestern Germany, the state of Baden-Württemberg is a major industrial hub known for its strengths in mechanical engineering, automotive, and precision manufacturing. Through its participation at TMTS, BW_i aims to promote exchanges and cooperation between companies from the region and Taiwanese industry partners.

During the exhibition, the German Trade Office Taipei will host “German Industry Solutions Session” from March 25 to March 27, daily from 14:00 to 15:00 at Booth G1005. German companies will present their technologies and applications with a focus on semiconductors, aerospace and unmanned vehicles, and data centers, demonstrating the growing role of machine tool technologies in high-tech industries. In addition, the German Pavilion will host a Happy Hour networking session every day from 15:00 to 16:00, offering visitors and industry professionals an opportunity to connect and exchange ideas.

Another highlight is the umati (universal machine technology interface) special zone, promoted by the German Machine Tool Builders’ Association (VDW), which will be located directly opposite the German Pavilion. umati aims to establish a universal communication standard for machinery, enabling equipment from different manufacturers and systems to connect seamlessly on a common platform. By simplifying data exchange between machine tools, 3D printers, and production management systems, umati facilitates more efficient integration in smart manufacturing and supports the development of connected industrial ecosystems.

Through the German Pavilion and its accompanying program of activities, visitors will gain first-hand insights into Germany’s latest developments in smart manufacturing and advanced machinery technologies while engaging with industry experts to explore new opportunities for Taiwan–Germany industrial cooperation.
