New PRT-04 Compact version ensures more efficient machine concepts and more installation space.
With a new compact version of its PRT-04 slewing ring bearing, igus offers a space-saving solution for precise rotary movements with medium loads. Thanks to the use of lubrication-free high-performance plastics in the sliding elements, the bearing is maintenance-free and corrosion-resistant - ideal for modern machines with limited installation space.
Whether in packaging machines, assembly tables or control and operating consoles on machine tools - slewing ring bearings ensure precise rotary movements even at high cycle rates. It is precisely for these application scenarios that igus has been developing slewing ring bearings made of wear-resistant high-performance plastics for over 20 years. The bearings have radially and axially acting sliding elements between the inner and outer rings. The maintenance-free design ensures that friction and wear are minimized without the use of lubrication. igus has now developed a new compact version of its iglidur PRT-04 series especially for the ever smaller installation spaces in mechanical engineering.

The particularly compact version of the proven slewing ring bearing offers designers a space-saving, lightweight and at the same time economical solution for rotary movements with medium loads. The compact design with reduced outer ring creates space in the inner diameter so that cables and drives can be integrated directly. Compared to the predecessor series PRT-01, the compact version is around 50 percent flatter, 60 percent lighter and 20 percent more cost-effective - a decisive advantage for moving applications and modular machine concepts. Mounting is also simpler. The bearing is bolted to the outer ring on an axle.
High-performance polymers for every application
Thanks to the use of high-performance plastics such as iglidur J in the sliding elements, the bearing is not only durable, but also lubrication-free, corrosion-resistant and low-noise. FDA-compliant materials such as iglidur A180 and iglidur A181 are available for special requirements, for example in food technology. The PTFE-free material iglidur JPF or the ESD dissipative material iglidur F2 are also possible as sliding elements.
Modular, versatile and tested
The new compact version is available for all sizes of the PRT-04 series. igus is also currently working on a space-saving version of its PRT-02 series, which is particularly suitable for applications with high tilting moments. For quick and easy design of the slewing rings, igus offers an online configuration tool. This is made possible by the intensive series of tests in the company's own 5,500 square meter test laboratory in Cologne.
