Introduction
As an event taking place under the umbrella of the Asia-Pacific Committee of German Business (APA), the JBC is jointly organized by the German Trade Office Taipei (GTO, AHK Taiwan) in cooperation with the Taiwan Committee of German Business, the Taiwan Bureau of Foreign Trade, and the Chinese International Economic Cooperation Association (CIECA) in a longstanding tradition. The JBC is chaired by Dirk Sänger, C. Melchers GmbH & Co. KG, on the German side, and Jimmy Chu, Fair Friend Group, on the Taiwanese side.a longstanding tradition. Since 1988, the JBC has been firmly established in the Taiwanese-German business calendar, annually bringing together more than 100 representatives from business, industry, and politics. The respective agenda of each edition of the JBC is determined by the topics du jour that impact the industries of both locations.
Geopolitics are still moving Taiwanese and German companies and play a significant role in the bilateral relations. This year’s JBC in Taipei will therefore focus on Taiwanese-German cooperation in the field of semiconductor and chip production . The event not only provides an insight into the semiconductor ecosystem from a Taiwanese and a German perspective but also offers opportunities to network and get to know the company representatives who have travelled all the way from Taiwan and are active in various stages of the semiconductor value chain.
