EU Investment Forum 2020 in Taipei

23/09/2020

Germany was one of 15 EU member nations present at the first ever EU Investment Forum in Taipei! The goal of this forum was to encourage international cooperation and Taiwanese investment in the EU.

The first 2020 EU Investment Forum (EIF) & Investment Fair was held yesterday, September 22, at the Taipei International Conference Centre (TICC) to promote closer bilateral economic ties between Taiwan and the European Union. President Tsai Ing-Wen, Minister of Economic Affairs Wang Mei-Hua, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Joseph Wu attended the opening ceremony. Representative offices of 15 EU member nations, including of course Germany, were present with the hope of attracting Taiwanese investment and cooperative business opportunities with Taiwanese companies. Over 1,400 people registered to attend the event! In the afternoon Germany participated in the Automotive Panel, one of four discussion panels, and was represented by Jan Hollmann, Managing Director of Robert Bosch Taiwan Co., Ltd.

The GTO also had a booth at the forum, where we introduced five German investment agencies, including Bremen Invest, Hamburg Invest, Baden Württemberg International, FrankfurtRheinMain GmbH, NRW Invest, as well as the economic development agency of the Federal Republic of Germany, Germany Trade and Invest. Visitors had the opportunity to live chat with representatives of the investment agencies in Germany and to get direct support for investment related questions. Minister of Economic Affairs Wang Mei-Hua even paid a visit to our booth and took part in our soccer game!
