The German Trade Office Taipei (GTO) has published the second edition of the “Corporate Social Responsibility Report of German Companies in Taiwan”.
Summary:
Over 250 German companies operating in Taiwan, playing a vital role in the economic and social environment. The second edition is another prove of the extraordinary commitment of German companies to Taiwan’s society, highlighting corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities initiated in 2020 and 2021 by 21 German companies.The report reveals that German companies embrace their responsibility for Taiwan, and that actively contributing to a better and more sustainable society has already become an integral part of the DNA of most companies.
CSR activities initiated by German companies include organizing fundraising events, supporting charity organizations with donations, developing special school programs, volunteering in environmental and community engagements (e.g., cleaning up waste), as well as initiating zero carbon programs, among others.
Press Conference:
On Friday, July 9, an online press conference was held to present the CSR 2021 report to the public. Guest of honor at the press conference was Dr. Thomas Prinz, Director General of the German Institute Taipei, who delivered welcoming remarks.
Representing the commitment of the German economy in Taiwan, representatives of five German companies participated in the event, demonstrating that CSR is a core value of their companies. Mr. James Chiu, General Manager of Fresenius Kabi Taiwan Ltd., Mr. John Lee, Managing Director of Merck Group in Taiwan, Ms. Renee Chen, Head of Communications at Covestro Taiwan, Mr. Ray Jui, Communications at Siemens Limited Taiwan, as well as Ms. Joanne Lai, Senior Manager of the Public Affairs Department at wpd Taiwan Energy Co., Ltd., provided first-hand insights into the CSR activities of their companies.
