Porsche Taiwan and The Society of Wilderness Achieves New Milestones in Marine Conservation

10/12/2024

As part of its continued efforts toward sustainability, Porsche Taiwan once again partnered with The Society of Wilderness in its annual Ocean Initiative to promote marine conservation along the beautiful coastlines of Taiwan. Building on the momentum of previous years, the initiative saw a 25% increase in volunteer participation this year, with proactive support from a wide range of organizations in Taiwan. Despite the challenges posed by typhoons this year, the collective effort led to the removal of nearly one ton of waste from Taiwan’s coastlines and underwater ecosystems in two sessions.

In addition to underwater cleanups, the Ocean Initiative also encompasses various conservation activities, including beach cleanups, comprehensive beach safety evaluations, and educational seminars aimed at raising public awareness on marine preservation. These multifaceted efforts broaden the scope of environmental stewardship, engaging volunteers across diverse sectors to amplify the program's reach and impact.

Christian Nater, CEO of Porsche Taiwan, emphasized the significance of this collaboration: “Sustainability is integral to Porsche, and it is heartening to see the increasing participation. This initiative is a testament to the collective impact we can achieve in protecting our oceans. Together with The Society of Wilderness, we aim to inspire even greater change in the years to come.”

Launched only two years ago, the underwater cleanup has already demonstrated visible results, showcasing how targeted efforts can drive meaningful change. “The Society of Wilderness has always focused on raising awareness, and the results of these continuous efforts are becoming evident,” said Chi-ting Lee, Chairman of The Society of Wilderness. “It's inspiring to see how much progress can be achieved when passionate individuals and organizations unite for a shared cause.”

Looking ahead, Porsche Taiwan remains dedicated to enhancing its sustainability initiatives, encouraging more partners to join in preserving Taiwan’s coastal beauty and protecting its rich marine biodiversity.
